Sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) is one of the most widely used — and most aggressive — industrial chemicals. Our sulfuric acid tanks feature custom carbon steel construction with rubber linings formulated for concentrated acid service, corrosion-resistant designs that prevent hydrogen gas buildup from metal contact, ventilation systems to manage temperature and pressure, and secondary containment that complies with OSHA requirements. For concentrations of 80–93%, we recommend linings with enhanced chemical resistance; for 50–70% concentrations, our bromobutyl linings offer excellent temperature and chemical protection.
Hydrochloric acid (HCl) presents its own challenges, from corrosivity to vapor generation. Following American Chemical Society storage guidelines, our HCl tanks include specialized rubber linings proven against HCl at various concentrations, enhanced ventilation to manage vapor, premium components (PVC fittings, Hastelloy-C bolts, Viton® gaskets), and comprehensive secondary containment. For concentrated HCl service, we use high-quality natural rubber linings built specifically for the application.
Every lining is cured using high-pressure steam vulcanization for superior bonding, using our 12-foot-diameter by 40-foot-deep vulcanizer for larger tanks and our 2-foot-6-inch by 30-foot-deep vulcanizer for smaller, more economical jobs — all controlled with electronic monitoring for consistent results.
